Papa Tim

On Friday morning as I was heading out the door to my ESOL conference in Fayetteville I got a call from Davin that his dad was at the Veteran's Hospital in Fayetteville for his appendix. Since Tim has heart issues I was afraid Davin was going to say he had a heart attack. Davin told me that he was going to head to the hospital to be with his mom and dad about 9am.

Davin stopped by a bakery to get donuts for his mom before heading to the VA. When he got to the VA they were putting his dad in an ambulance and taking him down the road to Washington Regional Medical Center because they thought his appendix was ruptured and the VA currently is renovating all of their emergency rooms and were not able to operate at the time.

Davin drove him mom to Washington Regional and they did surgery on Tim about mid morning/early afternoon. They said there was a lot of infection from the ruptured appendix and that he would have to stay in the hospital for 3-4 days.

Tim is slowly coming back around and but the doctor told him today that "he wasn't letting him go for awhile". We don't know what that means but as long as he gets better it will be okay. Jo is staying with us and we are hanging out at the hospital quite a bit.

I have a friend, Andrew, whose wife has been in and out of hospitals for about 10 years. Anyway, he always leaves a dish of candy in her room when he isn't at the hospital so the nurses will come by and see her more. I decided to bring the nurses Girl Scout cookies today and had Alea write them a note. There was a lot of oohing and awing when they saw the note and the cookies. Hopefully this will help him get all the care he needs (not that he already wasn't getting good care). Davin made fun of me on the way here for doing this but when he saw the nurses reactions he thought it was the best idea ever. :)

Beautiful Lengths

Alea has been growing her hair out for a while now and this week decided she was ready to donate it. We had decided early on that she would donate to Pantene's Beautiful Lengths program because they require 8 inches instead of the 10 inches that Locks of Love requires. Also, Pantene does not charge for their wigs like Locks of Love does.

Yesterday was the big day and Alea donated her hair. She looks so cute with her new hair cut. I can tell she really likes it. She keeps running her fingers through her hair.

Her last braided pig tails for a while.

One last long hair picture.
You can tell she is talking out of the side of her mouth and telling me to hurry up.
