Alea got home from camp on Friday. She was very tired and a little emotional. She didn't cry but her voice cracked a few times telling me about random (not sad) things from camp. I think she was over tired and homesick.
She was covered with bug bites and is still trying to heal from them. She probably has over 60 bites. Whether or not she ever wore bug spray at camp seems to be up for debate. Lesson learned, I hope.
She didn't seem to make a good friend at camp and I think that made things harder. There were some bossy girls and some annoying girls. Thirteen 9 year old girls together can be a bit dramatic I'm sure.
Her camp was called "Lost in the Woods" so they did some more rustic type activities. They made a slept out in their own shelters one night. Every other night they slept in platform tents on cots. Alea made soap and was the only girl at camp who was able to start a fire with only one match (I think she gets that from her pyro momma).
She also got to go swimming twice a day, went canoeing, did archery, hiked, sang songs and learned new games. I think overall it was a positive experience. My new goal is trying to get some of her Girl Scout friends to join her at camp. I think she would have so much fun with girls she already knows.
She also won the "most positive" award. :)
