Today was the first day that I worked out with the girls at Girls on the Run. The girls each got about 8 stickers and when they completed a lap they were to put a sticker on one of the coaches. When they gave us a sticker we gave them a bracelet that served as their lap counter. I ended up doing 3 laps and the track is about .44 of a mile so I did 1.16 miles. I ran part of it and walked most of it. I was one of the last ones to come back to the meeting place and all the girls were gathered with the head coach. Apparently she told them to shower me with love by placing their leftover stickers on me. A few of the girls completed 4 laps but most of the girls completed 3 laps. (That is a lot of leftover stickers!) The girls all ran to me and started putting stickers all over me. I had them all over my shirt, on my arms, nose, sunglasses, forehead, fingernails, etc. They had a great time doing it and being surrounded by 20 giggling girls who are giving you their love stickers was pretty special. It helped make my day. (p.s. No crying today.) This is a picture I took of myself (after I took all the stickers off my face). You can see the amount of love I received today from the girls. It was silly and sweet at the same time.
My shins were really hurting again today so I called Girls on the Run my workout and that was all of the running/walking I did today. Tomorrow is our first Girl Scout meeting of the year so I'm not sure if I'll do a workout tomorrow or not.
